How to make a difficult decision.

You do not need absolute certainty. You need a clear view of the situation, the meaningful options, the risks and the next piece of information that matters.

Work through my difficult decision

1. Define the actual decision

Write the choice in one sentence. Avoid solving five related problems at once.

2. Separate facts from assumptions

List what you know, what you believe and what you still need to find out.

3. Compare realistic options

Include staying as you are, if that is a genuine option. Consider upside, downside and when each option makes sense.

4. Decide what would change your mind

Identify the evidence or event that could reasonably change your preferred path.

5. Take one next move

Choose the smallest useful action that reduces uncertainty or moves the decision forward.
